well, i know i'm a bit late on this one, didn't think of it till about an hour or two ago....i was thinking instead of just an xp bonus for easter an "egg hunt" would have been kinda cool. have a bunch of eggs hidden in various parts of the map that can be found by completing missions in those areas. the eggs could contain chunks of xp or cash, or item stashes and maybe even some rare donor goodies or easter exclusive items. it wouldn't take TOO much work since item code exists and item drops are already part of the game, and it would have been more fun and less exploitable than just boosting xp, or at least i think so....something to think about next year? in my mind the eggs would have been usable items that when used they provide the goodies inside instead of just getting the goodies right when you find them, and they could have been color coded or something with semi random amounts of the contents per color coded egg, say gold is yen, white is xp, spotted is donor item or whatever and so on. maybe with a special award for the hunter with the most eggs at the end of the day? i dunno, i was put in charge of hiding eggs for some little kids this morning and it just struck me as a nifty idea *shrugs*
anyone think it might have been interesting? i know it's not my typical idea submission XD

Love the idea Hash, too bad it wasn't implemented. The "easter egg" idea can be used on ther holidays too though. Typically in gaming any hidden treasure is referred to as an easter egg.

sort of.....in generic gaming terms an easter egg is hidden content, usually in-jokes or other things of little or no benefit to actual gameplay. the term's origin is debatable, but i personally ascribe to the theory that it comes from the film "the rocky horror picture show" wherein the crew, during filming, held an onset easter egg hunt, and several of the eggs were not found. as a result if you watch the movie carefully there are three separate scenes where literal easter eggs can be seen and are unintended mistakes that add to the legend of the film and it's overall silliness and cult film status. some years later programmers began hiding hidden messages and or their names in places in games and programs usually intended only for their own amusement and not generally approved by the companies they worked for. as these were discovered and awareness increased over the years programmers, usually of games, but also of other software including some prolific operating systems began to hide an increasing number of these so called easter eggs in their wares and eventually it became a popular enough trend that they are parts of games well known, sometimes evolving into actual parts of the game effecting play. a good example of this would be the grand theft auto series where finding a certain number or all of hidden object unlocks additional abilities and items. no longer an easter egg these are even mentioned in the manual. it should be noted that some easter eggs are even implemented into hardware, though i am unaware of any contemporary examples i am sure they exist. it's just a gradual progression from an simple accident that was funny down through the ages of media and the culture of those who produce and consume it.

this pointless public service announcement (rant) has been brought to you by Hashassin, paid for by supporters of hashassin ;p

Wow...your random knowledge of things is amazing. lol, so the "easter egg" thing started unintentionally in the Rocky Horror Picture Show?
