Sendai story competition -
07-03-2010, 11:57 PM
This is a competition for the 13th Chapter of our little ninjas life! Please come up with something that follows the over all story line as stated in the sticky thread in this forum and build off of the story in Tokyo.
You get 3000 points boost to your gear as reward! If you don't have special gear, you will get new gear. If you don't win you still get points for participating!
Good luck!
Here is the Iwaki story as a reference.
After the dragon lay dead, a voice calls from the ceiling, "You have done well, but being a ninja is not all about fighting skill. Journey to Iwaki and there we will test your mental skills." Heeding the voice's words, you journey to the humble village of Iwaki. You book a room in the local inn. In the dead of night, you are kidnapped. You struggle against your bonds, but to no avail. They blindfold you and knock you out.
You awaken to find yourself in an inky black cave. You can't even see your hand in front of your face. Suddenly, torches that line the wall burst into flame, lightening the whole cave. In front of you sits a blue ball. On the wall is a hole that is about 10 feet off the floor. The same voice from earlier calls out again, "The sphere in front of you will do whatever you think it can do, but if you touch it, you will find you can not lift it. You will split your mind into two parts, one believing that the ball cannot fly, and the other believing it can. You need keep these concepts in mind to fly the ball into the hole. Now, begin!"

After many hours of frustration from not being able to move the ball you pause and meditate on the situation. While in this state you go back to your earliest memories a child and remember something your father told you. "Son, one's true path is something unknown to most. You must understand that the world seeks to balance itself, it follows the path of Yin and Yang. Yin and yang are complementary opposites within a greater whole. Everything has both yin and yang aspects, although yin or yang elements may manifest more strongly in different objects or at different times. Yin and yang constantly interact, never existing without the other. You realize now that you must believe in both, that the ball can not fly while it still can. You see the shadow of a man emerge as the ball disappears through the hole. "Well done, you understand much about the world. My name is Taijitu. You must now travel North and to the west coast to Sakata. Your training will continue there."

Sweating and swearing, you finally lock in the two-part mind concept. The ball slowly, shakily, starts to rise. Just as you envision, the ball rises and rests snugly in the hole. The world around you starts to blur and you pass out.
Slowly, your eyelids start to open as the world comes back into focus. You find yourself in a bed, in a small house. You see Hitome, the elusive, enigmatic, blacksmith's daughter. "Finally, you're awake. For a ninja, that sure took a lot out of you." She giggles. "We moved you to Sendai. Follow me, there is someone you need to meet." You follow her, out the door onto a porch. There, you see a big man, muscular and scarred, with his back to you. "Father, here is the ninja." Hitome says. The man turns, and you realize, this is the blacksmith! He says to you, "Ah, you have done well young one, but a final test still remains. An age-old ninja trail, you must steal the local warlord's sword, right out from under his nose. I must see if you are worthy enough to have use of my skill. Now, go!"

you sit and think for a second on what to do. you start thinking that this is not just a physical challenge but there is some mental aspect involved so you look around the room for something that can help you then see a small tunnel. you go through the tunnel and find a big pile of wood, a hammer, and some nails. Then thats when it comes to you; you must build a ramp. after a couple hours you finaly build the ramp and roll the ball up and through the hoop. Right as the ball goes through the hoop a wall opens up and you see a path that leads to sendai.
After traveling for awhile you reach sendai and the you hear the same voice from before say you must enter the local contest and then go to sakata. you look around to see where the voice came from but there were to many people around the town to figure out who it was so you continue and then all the sudden you see a sign that says assassin tournament. you see a local looking at the poster as well and you ask whats this all about. The guy then explains that there are some assassins killing everyone that trys to go to sakata and that they are hosting this tournament and giving away a big prize to the person who kills the most assassins to get more people interested so that they can take care of the assassins. you then decide to enter the tournament.

All you had to do is give Gyuri the ID for Mystic when he asked where you wanted your prize.

Realizing that no amount of strength would move the ball which lays before you sit in front of it. Staring at the ball you concentrated and close your eyes, imagining that the ball could rise with the thoughts within your head. Peeking with one eye, you see the ball remains in the same place. "You will split your mind into two parts," you remember the voice saying. Attempting to make the ball rise again, you slowly enter a deeper level of consciousness imagining the ball rise again but in a much clearer state. Shortly you can hear the grinding of the ball entering the hole.
The voice from before awakens you from your thoughts, "You did well, young master, you gain knowledge quickly, but your journey still continues to Sakata, you must go."
Heeding the words of the unknown voice, you follow the torches leading you out of the cave and head for Sakata.
Been awhile since i added anything in for the story, I would appreciate any suggestions or tips people can give me about how i could write better. Thanks ahead of time.
